Boles, Coddenham, England, reports the discovery of an apparent supernova (mag 15.5) on an unfiltered CCD image taken on Nov. 5.163 UT with a 0.35-m reflector. The new object is located at R.A. = 9h32m06s.42, Decl. = +8o26'44".4 (equinox 2000.0), which is approximately 2".8 east and 14".2 north of the center of NGC 2906. SN 2005ip is not present on Boles' images from 2005 Jan. 21 and 2004 Dec. 6 (limiting mag 19.5), and it is not present on Digitized Sky Survey plates from 1999 Feb. 20 (red limiting mag 21.0) and 1994 Feb. 9 (blue limiting mag 20.5). S. Nakano, Sumoto, Japan, reports that K. Itagaki (Yamagata, Japan) has confirmed 2005ip at red mag 14.8 on a CCD image taken on Nov. 5.682, providing position end figures 06s.40, 44".2.
